Résumé : For some adolescents, pregnancy means happiness and fullfillment. However, for most of them, it means a sad moment, characterized by fear and despair, as this is an unplanned situation and the abortion seems the only alternative. This retrospective study aimed at finding out the epidemiological profile of the adolescents admitted at the Clériston Andrade General Hospital, in Feira de Santana, Bahia, that were submitted to a curettage from January 1995 to December 1997. The results showed the need for educative programs in order to prevent unplanned pregnancies.
