Résumé : This is a descriptive analysis of the abortion among different groups of Mexican-origin women in the border region Tijuana, Mexico-San Diego, U.S. The first objective is to contribute to the knowledge of the abortion practice by Mexican women, through their abortions in the neighboring northern country. A second objective is to study the differential behavior of abortion among different ethnic-linguistic subgroups of women that coexist in the transborder context. The information comes from 1 190-clinic records of Womancare, Planned Parenthood, San Diego and Riverside, 1993. The findings indicates diverse abortion patterns among the subgroups of women depicted by their age at abortion, age at first pregnancy, opinions about abortion, reasons to abort and strategies to emotionally recover during the post-abortion phase.
