Abstract : This paper reports developments regarding abortion laws in Ireland, Philippines, and Paraguay. In Ireland, the government published a discussion document on the subject of abortion. In response, many sectors in religion, medicine and the law have expressed their own views on abortion. The Philippine government drafted a bill which proposes a partial decriminalization of abortion. It is hoped that the law can be changed to allow abortion in cases of rape, incest, fetal abnormality, or to save the life of the woman. In Paraguay, on the other hand, a bill on sexual and reproductive health was presented for public discussion. The bill was designed to regulate the exercise of reproductive rights, and to protect and promote responsible parents.
