Abstract : This Law amends the Penal Code of the Cayman Islands (Act No. 12 of 1975) to provide the following: "i) that no person shall be guilty of the offence of either attempting to procure the miscarriage of a woman or of killing an unborn child unless it is proved that either act was not done in good faith for the purpose of preserving the life of the mother only; and ii) that an authorized registered Health Practitioner shall not be guilty of the offence of either attempting to procure a miscarriage of a woman or of killing an unborn child if prior written certification is given by two such registered Health Practitioners, (one being an obstetrician or a gynaecolgist) that either act is necessary for the purpose of preserving the life of the mother.
